You've probably got some useful maternity, baby, or kids items that you know you won't use again but want to see put to good use.  Freepeats.org is an online forum that allows local moms to pay it forward by posting items they no longer need or even post the used items they wish to find.

As expected, baby gear and kids' toys are traded briskly, but Freepeats.org is a suitable venue for items that can hardly be traded otherwise, such as diapers or unopened baby food.  Maybe you've bought a case of formula and discovered halfway into the first can that your child requires the soy version.  And who among us hasn't celebrated successful potty training but thought it was a shame that the last box of disposable training pants wasn't needed?  Unless you have a friend with kids right behind yours, there's seldom an efficient way to do something with these perfectly useful items. Aside from the environmental issue, it hurts to feel like you've thrown away good money.

Freepeats.org can help avoid that waste. It already operates in 24 other US cities and opened in Birmingham on August 1.  Typically there is a one-time membership fee of $4.95 to join the forum, but that fee is being waived for Birmingham-area moms who join by September 1st.
